Residents Making a Difference
During December '03, January and March 2004, the Friends of Otay Valley Regional Park (Friends of OVRP) sponsored three cleanup efforts on Lower Otay Reservoir. The October fires exposed years of trash and with the help of local residents we have erased years of neglect and returned our countryside to a natural look.
During these threee cleanup efforts, many groups and individuals have stated their desire to stay involved in improving our open space amenities. The groups include local Brownie Troops, Boy Scouts, Filipino-American youth, Hanson Aggregates, Otay Real Estate Company, and Pirates Grove. We hope to add your organization and you to this growing list.
The Friends of OVRP is excited to organize the local community in enhancing our knowledge and enjoyment of the Otay Valley Regional Park. This Regional Park will provide trails and recreational opportunities in the near future. These trails will link the Otay Lakes to San Diego Bay (a distance of more than 13 miles) and will be part of the City's Greenbelt Master plan.
For more information on the Otay Valley Regional Park, our event schedule and how to be involved please visit www.ovrp.org or call Frank Ohrmund or Cesar Gutierrez at 619-397-5300.
