The I Love A Clean San Diego's (ILACSD's), 2nd Annual Earth Day, Creek to Bay Cleanup: on Saturday morning  April 3rd, 9 a.m. - Noon   occurred in the Otay Valley Regional Park's  proposed Recreational area #5, east side of Castle Park Creek and west end of Date Ct. was a great success.

The Otay Land Fill, who waived dumping fee's, reported that the 40 cubic yard roll on/ roll off bin, donated by Pacific Waste Services, contained 5.15 tons of trash which equals to 10,300 lbs. Large trash bags were furnished by the OVRP Cleanup Project, along with smaller bags furnished by ILACSD. In addition to the water furnished by the County of San Diego, District #1, Manny Ramirez, a CAC member brought additional small bottles of water and small bags of health candy.

Within the creeks running through the area, volunteers removed 1 large motorcycle, 1 smaller motorcycle, 1 mountain bike in good condition (which will be cleaned and donated to a needy student), 1 large refrigerator, 1 dryer, 1 sofa, 3 tables, 5 tires, numerous broken plastic chairs, a very large amount of wall board and plywood and numerous plastic bottles and metal cans of all shapes and sizes.

Each participant received a certificate of appreciation. Within the certificate the following words are contained "Your thoughtful involvement has helped make the Otay Valley Regional Park (OVRP) a reality and has strengthened the image of volunteering in the eyes of the community".

Many volunteers requested that they be put on a mailing list for the next cleanup. The website http://www.ilacsd.org was pushed for current and forthcoming events.
